#eventgoer: Member of the Board

Hello! My name is Jay Gatsby. I’m an event goer. Excuse me but I don’t have too much time, I’m on my way to a lecture. ring Jay Gatsby here, how may I help you, old sport? Alright, I'll call you back in half an hour.

You will see me at events like trade conferences and forums. I want to know what’s happening in the industry and what is worth my attention.

I pay particular attention to the service and logistics of the conference. I don’t have any time to spare standing in lines to the reception desk or look at maps and search for the next interesting lecture.

I expect the lectures to be on topic and to expand on that topic. I don’t need to listen to generalizations or things I already know.

I’m annoyed when you’re wasting my time. Lines to reception desks, hardware issues, poorly organized room layout, you know what I mean. All this could have been avoided by logical thinking, testing, or doing something else to prevent problems.

What I like most is valuable content that gives me the sense of having learned something. Plus I like it when the organizer is professional. A serious conference is no place for glaring mistakes and excuses.

Thank you for your time and insight, Mr. Gatsby. What a restless person... But he’s got a point, you know. He doesn’t appear impolite but that can change should he feel his time is wasted. The consequences could be unpleasant to say the least and we don’t want that. That’s why you should think everything through. And test. Especially test. And have a solution for any scenario. True, you cannot predict everything but you can predict most and it will have to do.
Look forward to another event goer soon!
